USES

Armodafinil can reduce extreme sleepiness caused by narcolepsy or other sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep disorder (obstructive sleeping apnea) and periods of stopped breathing while asleep. Armodafinil can also be used to keep you awake at work if your work schedule prevents you from sleeping normally (shift work sleep disorder). Armodafinil does not take the place of getting enough sleep. It should not be used to treat tiredness or hold off sleep in people who do not have a sleep disorder. It is not known how armodafinil works to keep you awake. It is thought to work by affecting certain substances in the brain that control the sleep/wake cycle.

SIDE EFFECTS

You may experience headaches, nausea, dryness of the mouth, dizziness, dryness of the stomach, dryness of the lips, nervousness, dizziness or difficulty sleeping. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.

A very serious allergic reactions to this drug is rare. If you have symptoms such as fever, swelling of lymph nodes, rash, itching/swelling (especially on the face/tongue/throat), trouble breathing, or severe dizziness, please seek medical attention immediately.

PRECAUTIONS

Remember that your doctor has prescribed this medication because he or she has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. This medication is not known to cause serious side effects in many people.

Tell your doctor right away if you have any serious side effects, including: fast/pounding/irregular heartbeat, mental/mood changes (such as agitation, confusion, depression, hallucinations, rare thoughts of suicide).

Get medical help right away if you have any very serious side effects, including: chest pain.

If you have symptoms such as fever, swelling of lymph nodes, itching/swelling (especially on the face/tongue/throat), trouble breathing, or severe dizziness, seek medical attention immediately.
